Collaboration with local Foodbank
Foundation Meant to Shine has been collaborating with the Foodbank of Curacao since 2008, distributing food to families in need in the area.
In order to make it easier to distribute food on Banda Bou (neighborhood where Meant to Shine is located and one of the poorest parts of the island), a large container was placed on the premises to store food. Other foundations and private parties who have contacts with the families will distribute the goods.
Combine forces
We are able to distribute food to the families we work with as well. In addition to the help we are already providing, many of them also need this type of assistance. Often there are insufficient finances to buy enough food for the entire family.
Ever since 2005, the Foodbank has been distributing fresh fruit to children in (non-subsidized) afterschool programs. The children in our project Embrace are receiving fresh fruit from them as well.
Through this close collaboration we are able to combine forces and stay in close contact with the Foodbank.
